FFM Carbon Fiber Fairing Installation
If you are trying to install a standard carbon fiber fairing, the top of the fairing should not be much higher than you chin on average. If you are installing a DB carbon fiber fairing, then you can set the fairing higher, around nose height for starters. Correctly installed, this fairing should be pulled snug with no flex or looseness so it will remain relatively quite on the bike. If it’s installed too loose, it will flew and rattle, and could eventually lead to a crack in a fairing mounting hole. (Not common, but not unusual either) TIPS: You may need to raise or lower either your stem or fairing cross mount or both for a better fit. Most body sock people will benefit from chopping the handle bars down as much as possible to put your hands behind the fairing. The fairing's cross bar comes in two different lengths. Those of you who are big in the shoulders could benefit from the wider bar. QUICK FIT: If you already own a Tour Easy, Gold Rush, Ti Rush or another bike using a Super Zipper fairing, this installation should only take a few minutes. Take off the old fairing and lay down with the outside of the fairing against the ground, table, etc. Lay new carbon fairing inside the old fairing and with a marking pen mark first the lower, and then upper mounts position. To drill holes, use a new sharp drill bit, lay fairing against a piece of wood for backing and just drill. Carbon drills rather easy. Take the carbon fairing and fasten it to the mounts and you are good to go. Make sure you are using the rubber washers between the fairing. Try not to drill too close to an edge - leave at least an inch or so. If you have any questions please email Freddy at fredee1st@comcast.net or call 831-566-7637 and leave a message. |
