Custom TwoEasy Tandem

Custom TwoEasy Tandem

Designed and built for us by Gardner Martin. She has a steel frame with two S&S couplers and fits in a tandem case.

Geometry is GR/TE for the stoker with frame extending foreword for the captain. Captain's position is a lot like that of an EZ 1.

Drivetrain is Shimano XT with Grip Shift for captain. Captain controls both wheel brakes. Stoker controls the rear drum break. The wheels were built up by Easy Racers on Phil Wood hubs.

The bike is fast and remarkably stable at any speed. We have taken her to France twice, the San Juan Islands in Washington, and all the way around the Big Island of Hawaii.

This bike is in outstanding shape and lives in our garage but my wife (the stoker) can't ride due to physical problems so we would like to find her a new home.

Bike comes with: Hard shell tandem case, suitcase for the seats, SuperZipper fairing, a "spare" set of seats (Cobra style, the bike is currently equiped with Cool Back seats), and rear rack and regular tools.

Be advised - this bike is bright yellow and attracts a huge number of smiles, waves, and cheers as you ride by. You will never be able to blend into the crowd but you will have a lot of fun riding comfortably on everything from huge mountains to dead flat speed runs.

Price - $3500 includes fairing, traveling cases, etc
Located in Santa Clara,CA (just over the hill from Easy Racers).

Jim:

Am interested in your bike to try and get wife interested in what may turn out to be a fool's errand. On my TE, I am on a M, M/L frame. How is this bike fitted for size? Would you accept $2700 for the bike?

Hi David,

When he built the bike, Gardner told me that both seats are M/L. My inseam is 40 inches and I can fit on both stoker and captain seats. It was delivered with cobra seats and the seats were adjusted about mid- way on the seat slide. When I put on the cool back seats, they had to slide toward the front of the slide. The bike comes with both sets of seats.

Concerning price, I can't go less than $3000. Any less than that and I would just keep it until I can talk my nieces and nephews to ride with me.

I do understand the situation with the wife. Sometimes, if they are comfortable on the bike, they really embrace it. Mine did for about ten years and we had a great time.

Have fun and keep the rubber side down !!!!

Question

My wife is 5'2". Will the rear seat adjust enough for her to reach the pedals? Thanks.

Hi Ted,

My wife is 5'5" with long legs so I would be suprised if it fit her. If you are ever visiting Easy Racers (or San Francisco) and we could arrange a fitting experiment.

Thanks for the reply. We live in Colorado, but our daughter lives in Sacramento. So there's a chance we'll get out that way this summer.
