Seat cords/Zip ties concerns

I want to do away with the zip ties I've started using on my Gold Rush. I am considering going to something like Rans uses on their bikes.

I have experience in commercial sewing so that won't be a problem.

Any anyone here tried this before? Suggestions appreciated.

Would also like to know if anyone knows the specific type of two fabrics that Rans uses for their seats.

Bob

You might want to call the Rans folks out in Hays, Kansas at 785-625-6346 for the best information regarding their seat fabrics. Carl is probably the person you would want to speak with there.

Best of Luck,

Don

I'm not familiar with the Rans seat construction, but getting away from the zip ties is an excellent idea in my opinion. I never liked the look of them, but the used bike I bought came with them. I converted to the Kevlar cord that was traditionally used on the seatbacks on the Easy Racers, and am quite satisfied with it, except, the holes punched for the zip ties are not precisely punched for using the cord lacing. This may make for fun when converting to other attachment styles.

RANS has their own sew shop for their seats. I suggest you contact RANS. Go to the link and scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a photo of the sew shop. RANS Sew Shop

Seat Ties

Hey, Guys,

I talked to Rans. The young lady I spoke to was very helpful and cooperative.

She gave me the specific information regarding the fabrics and also gave me the name of their supplier.

I plan on going ahead with my plans in a few weeks.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Bob

I found this by accident. They sell fabric by the yard.
