I haven't been around this forum for a couple years. I sold my "forever" Gold Rush. I think my reasons may not have been good ones and I miss it. I have thought that I might get another and, with that thought, entered this forum after a long absence.

What happened?

There is practically no activity. Denton and the factory give me the impression of being part time. I seldom see ER racers mentioned on other blogs and forums. Have Rans and Bachetta usurped the place of Easy Racers? has the economy impacted it?

To me, ER is a cycling icon. I hate to see it experience hard times.

I suspect many of us have been more active at bentrideronline.com message boards.
I am still surprised and disappointed that Easy Racers does not advertise there anymore, and some of the more well known stores (hostel shoppe) don't carry Easy Racers bikes anymore.
I love my TE and hope the company remains financially healthy. Are they?
More riding, less blogging!

Hey Dick
The last time that I talked to you (on this forum), you were about to
switch to DFs. How did that work out for you ?

Since then, I sold my Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2 high racer
and bought a titanium Javelin (seen elsewhere on this forum).
Still have my Gold Rush, too.....plan to keep it.

Dick, if you're considering purchase of another recumbent, you might want
to take a look at a Javelin. The different ergonomics versus the Gold
Rush might alleviate the knee problems (if memory serves) that you
experienced when you were riding a Gold Rush. I have found that the
pedaling action with the Javelin's slightly higher bottom bracket has a
natural feel that I like. I had planned to buy the steel Javelin, but the
titanium one became available, so I said "Why not ?". I suspect that the
steel Javelin's speed is not far behind the titanium Jav, and its cost is
pretty low compared to most recumbents. I think that the Koolback seat
would probably fit the Javelin if comfort is an issue (you'd have to ask
Denton about that). I always thought that the bottom brackets were
overly high on the two Bacchetta Carbon Aero high racers that I owned.
The Javelin's bottom bracket height seems just about right to me.
Hey .....maybe Denton would make you a special deal on one of those
titanium Javelin frames....
If I were starting a new Jav from a frame set, I'd seriously consider having
a rear wheel built with one of the new 11 speed internal hub drives, along
with a belt drive system. Now that would be a practical and fast bike !

And.... if one of the new belt drives were installed -- and one "chainwheell"
(actually "pulley") would provide an adequate gear range -- the drive
system would be simplicity itself....with nearly zero maintenance.
If the drive is heavier than a conventional hub / cassette, that extra weight
(and cost) would be offset somewhat by not having derailleurs, cassettes
or chainwheels !!

And the drive train would be nearly silent.

When the Chinese figure out how to make these drives for 50 bucks,
derailleurs will go the way of dinosaurs.

Times have changed!

BROL has pretty much taken over for TE talk and new ER riders don't really know this forum exists. I read this forum once a week, and still post here. but rarely.

Due to Terry breaking the same wrist twice, we finally sold her S&S coupled Tour Easy last summer. She now rides a trike and I don't have to worry about her sticking her arm out to cushion the fall.

Six years ago we owned from three to four ER bikes. Today I still own and ride my S&S coupled Tour Easy. We now ride trikes.

When I'm not riding with Terry, 40% of the time I ride the Tour Easy, 50% one of my two trikes and 10% ride the V-Rex. My Tour Easy will never be sold, and if they can get the fire hot enough it will be creamated along with me.

we are working full time,Easyracers is not going anywhere !!! we have definetly struggled in the tough economy , but have been able to make many internal changes to lower our overhead and weather the storm.
Easyracers is a healthy company , albeit a little understaffed at the moment in the social media and website department, but have been working deligently on product refinement and tooling to produce the BEST bicycle in the world.....stay tuned...best is yet to come
